Ingredients

2/3 cup basmati rice 120 g
1 1/3 cup water 330 mL
1 pinch salt [optional] 0.2 g

Method

  1. Rinse the rice and drain it.
  2. Pour the specified amount of water into a saucepan, cover, then bring to a boil (use about 2-2½ cups of water per cup of rice). Add the rice and salt. Cover and cook over very low heat about 15 min without uncovering.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. The water should be completely absorbed. Should it not be, cover and simmer for a few more minutes. Let stand, covered, 3-5 min. Serve.

I really like the texture and taste of this rice.

I like rice better in the rice cooker, but this was pretty good. I don't think I would use 1 1/3 cups water though as it made it a little wet for my like, but after letting it sit for 3-5 minutes, it turned out just fine.
